I started this when I was 17.
Back then it was a different name. I was doing graphic design for my church. I made sermon thumbnails, slides, and notes, and at some point I realized I wanted to wear what I was making. Clothing that reflected who I was. Clothing that didn’t lie about what I believed.
I tried. I failed. The first brand ran out of money. The second one was called Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backwards. It was almost right. The meaning was right. We are the kingdom of heaven reflected on earth, redeemed through his blood, walking around carrying something the world can’t see. That part was true.
But I was building the wrong thing. I was making what I thought people would buy instead of what I actually believed in. I was chasing sales instead of resonance.
So I stopped. And I started again.
This is Numen.
Numen is the felt presence of the divine. The awareness that something holy is here, attending this moment, walking with us on the road.
It’s the same idea Nevaeh was reaching for. Heaven is not a place we are trying to get to. It is a presence we are already inside of. We are that reflection.
I am building this for one reason.
There is so much cowardice right now around being a Christian. Around being vocal, being honest, saying what we actually believe. The world has suppressed speech in a way I haven’t seen before. Not just politically. Not just spiritually. At the level of who you are allowed to be in public. Men especially feel it. We have been told to keep our faith small, polite, indoor-voice only. To not bring it up. To not make anyone uncomfortable.
The gospel doesn’t ask us to be quiet. It asks us to be quiet in spirit, but not silent in life.
I want clothing that helps men carry their faith into the room without performing it. Pieces that resonate with who you actually are. Pieces that spark conversations, not arguments, with family, with friends, with strangers who might become both. The kind of clothing where the right person notices, asks, and a real moment happens.
That’s what I am trying to build. Something that resonates with the soul.
This is also why Numen is small on purpose.
I am not making catalogs. I am making confessions. Each piece is built around an idea I have been sitting with: a phrase, a passage, a piece of theology I think the men of my generation need to hear again. Heavyweight cotton, garment-dyed. Type set with care. Designs that look considered enough to stand on their own, and carry meaning deep enough to last.
I don’t drop weekly. I drop when I have something to say.
If you are a man who loves God and is tired of being told to keep it to yourself.
If you have wanted to wear something true for years and never found it.
If you believe heaven is reflected through the people who carry it.
